Receiving money from a non-customer
In this section we will cover how to record someone that’s not a customer who’s providing you money that you want to record for your bank and increase your bank balance.
Make General Ledger Entry for Bank Account
-
Since you want to record a payment from an outside source into your bank balance in the system the recommended way of doing this is via a Journal Entry for that bank account ledger.
-
First, navigate to the ledger screen in the Accounting Manager section and go to the Ledger Accounts menu at the bottom. From here find your bank account you want to account this money for.
-
From here go and right click your bank account ledger you want to do this entry for and select “Make General Ledger Entry”
-
A window will appear for you to then start entering in the Debit amount you’re putting into the bank ledger. You can also at the top of the window type in some small information so you can reference what this was from.
-
Do note that you will have to choose a second account to credit to record this transaction. Either a clearing account or refer to your CPA which account you should credit to record this deposit.
-
Once you are done go ahead and hit “Save & Close” and now the entry is complete and your bank balance has increased!
-
If you reconcile your bank account you’ll also be able to check this item off when reconciling with your bank statement and other deposits that you do via journal entries.
